iCloud on Windows XP

February 22nd, 2012 No comments

The 12th October Apple released Windows download that iCloud control panel is provided for the integration of PC-iCloud service, not just the balance is on your contact, schedule and calendar data is essential. But the major problem is that it’s only compatible with Windows Vista SP2 and Windows 7, leaving  many Windows XP users from outside the service.

Here it’s worthwhile to look at the bottom of the instructions I got from stored ifun.de reader Benjamin.

This explains in six steps, methods to install the Control Panel iCloud. This also shows how a slight modification, can also install iCloud on Windows XP. I have not tested the XP installation itself, but the small hack that I found is worth mentioning. Benjamin writes:

The following programs are required:
iTunes 5.10
A Enpackprogramm e.g. 7-Zip or WinRar
Orca MSI editor (download it and install)
The iCloud setup

    • first Download icloud setup
    • second open the iCloudSetup.exe with WinRar or 7-Zip extract
    • third find the file iCloud.msi or iCloud64.msi (for 64bit sytems) and open it with Orca MSI editor
    • fourth look at the left table for “after launch” condition.

Then

  • in the right table change VersionNT> = 600 on VersionNT> = 200 then Save and Exit
  • fifth open iCloud.msi file for installation …
  • sixth run icloud (from the control panel) and log

Angry Birds Addiction! [INFOGRAPHIC]

September 24th, 2011 No comments

I love Infographics and these nice and funny set of pictures are trending like anything and I like them a lot. So heres a Angry Bird Infographics that I found on the web and would like to share.

Angry Birds is an absolute epidemic. To date there have been over 300 million downloads and gamers are spending over 200 million minutes per day hurling birds.

The Angry Birds rage is more than just a game,  there are Angry Birds T-shirts, plushies, and edibles ranging from cakes to bento boxes. Mattel has made an Angry Birds board game and Rovio is spreading rumors of a feature length film on the horizon.

Other game creators have tried to match the success of Angry Birds to no avail. For one reason or another, these perturbed birds have captured the hearts and minds of time-wasters everywhere; Angry Turds and/or Chicks’n’Vixens fail to glean much success. After all, Angry Birds did prompt a contemporary philosophical masterpiece, “Angry Birds™ Yoga – How to Eliminate the Green Pigs in Your Life” by Brazilian Hare Krishna,  Giridhari Dasa.

Now that Angry Birds has the Google+ seal of approval, there is no stopping it from gobbling free-time while simultaneously inciting addiction.

Why is Angry Birds more addicting than all those other games? According to psychologist Michael Chorost, PhD:

  1. “It’s simple with no learning curve to get going.”
  2. “It’s rewarding- we get a primitive pleasure from blowing $HIT up!”
  3. “It’s realistic- the physics of the game are just as you’d expect.”
  4. “It’s funny- the creatures’ sounds, laughing and backflips.”

Check out the infographic below, “The Global Appeal of Angry Birds, A Story of Psychology, Sociology, and Addiction” by aytm, and discover the psychological make-up of an Angry Birds addict, maybe you will find that you fit the bill.

Shout in the comments  if you love Angry Birds!

iPhone 5: Our Top 8 Reasons to Get It

August 11th, 2011 No comments

We have come up with 8 iPhone 5 features that should be a must when it is released, we also put pen to paper and sketched out our own infographic of the features that should be a must in the new upcoming phone, please remember that we are not artists or very good at drawing so please do not dig us in the side about it, some love would be nice. Thanks

Here are the ideas, but please check out our very own infographic below; Number 1 shows a camera and this would feature an 8MP cam on the back and a 5MP on the front, Number 2 = Wrap around wireless charging technology, Number 3 = Rain Sensor and when rain hits the waterproof screen it will automatically give users points-of-dry-interest, basically lets you know all the dry places you can visit if it is raining.

Number 4 = Google Android customer choice, when a customer walks into a store they can choose an Apple iPhone 5 with either iOS or Android OS, Number 5 = Pop-out thermometer that pops out the bottom of the iPhone 5.

Number 6 = Dual SIM Card Slots
Number 7 = iPhone 5 with a slide-out QWERTY Keyboard
Number 8 = The iPhone 5 can detect Android devices near it and sends them a text saying change to iOS

Wonder if any of the above features would ever take off, just a thought. Hope you like our iPhone 5 infographic below and the top 8 reasons why you should get it.

Oh come on readers you know that number eight is very funny, would definitely put a few smiles on both Android and iOS users faces. Now check out our very own drawing that we have put together below, if you know of any features you would like the iPhone 5 to have please do let us know in the commenting area.

iPhone 5: Nine Reasons Not To Get It [Infographics]

iPhone 5

Okay there are no doubt many reasons the iOS faithful out there will tell you why you need to purchase the iPhone 5, but what about any reasons not to purchase the next generation iPhone? Well what we have below is nine reasons not to shell out your hard earned dosh on the latest iOS smartphone when it appears at some point.

The nine reasons comes our way courtesy of the guys over at iDownload Blog and is basically a humorous look at the reasons people shouldn’t purchase the iPhone 5 done by the guys over at MacTrast, which can be viewed below.

The nine reasons include such things, as the iPhone 5 will not have a replicator to dispense hot beverages, the iPhone 5 cannot be used as a defibrillator in an emergency, and the iPhone 5 cannot transport you to any point in time and space.

All of which means of course is that Apple’s latest piece of iOS tech isn’t the ultimate futuristic technological marvel the iOS faithful would have you believe, and is basically just a smartphone doing things that smartphones do.

Of course it’s all done in the name of humour as obviously none of these nine reasons actually have any baring on whether you would purchase the iPhone 5 or not, but it does go to show that at least someone doesn’t take the iPhone 5 as seriously as others.

My favourite is “The iPhone 5 does not come equipped with a zombie killing laser,” which is a good thing as no doubt rather than targeting zombies which are in short supply, I figure users would target Android users in an attempt to get rid of the opposition…just joking folks.

As I said earlier, there is an abundance of reasons why people would purchase the iPhone 5, some through loyalty to Apple and no doubt some will defect from other platforms, but we’d love to know why you will pick up the iPhone 5 once it becomes available, so feel free to let us know your reasons by posting to our comments area below.

My personal reasons for not purchasing an iPhone 5 is, firstly I am one of the Android faithful, and secondly no doubt it will be way beyond my financial means.

Oh and if you feel you have another reason for not purchasing the iPhone 5 feel free to share that with us as well, and we’ll see what ingenious reasons our readership can come up with.

Speed up iPhone 3G

August 11th, 2011 No comments

Well I am one of those people who are still keeping the 3 year old technology in their pockets. Probably because we all are waiting for the next iPhone to get launched in the market. Well the next-generation iPhone could be a revolutionary iPhone 5 or evolutionary iPhone 4S (or both), donno and we are not going to discuss about that today. But for the purpose of a mild hint we should expect it to be in the market somewhere around October (still it’s too far).

So our iPhone 3G has to survive till then (which is indeed a tedious job due to its very slow processing capability). You can’t imagine how slow this phone is, means it opens the Message App in 10 sec and even after that sending and receiving SMS is soo slow that I have planned to stop sending/receiving messages to my near ones (forget about other apps, using them is a nightmare for me).

While a vast majority of iPhone users are enjoying the new features and performance improvement in the latest iOS, some iPhone 3G users have reported that iOS 4 has slowed down their iPhone, which has forced some of them to downgrade to iPhone OS 3.1.3 (which is feature less for me now).

So after a small search over the internet I found a way to increase the speed of the phone and I am discussing it above.

Here, I would like to introduce a nice and a simple “tweek” that you can use to bump up the speed of your phone.

I started surfing over the internet and found in ModMyI forum that:

Phone 3G apparently has trouble keeping up with indexing, ever since 3.x. Two days ago, I turned off Spotlight search (Settings-General-Home Button-Spotlight search-switch off all you don’t use) because I rarely, if ever, used it.

Up to this day, my poor old 3G with iOS is way snappier than it was before, and I wouldn’t hesitate to say it’s as snappy as with 3.1.3.

So I tried disabling all the spotlight search feature in Settings>General>Home Button>Spotlight search, and now I believe that my phone is little bit faster. Although doing this will stop spotlight from searching any part of your phone but still this tweek make sense to me as I don’t use spotlight at all.

Update: In order to increase your phone’s speed you may also try the following methods:

1) Make sure that your phone have atleast 1GB free space at times, this will help your phone to make full use of the virtual memory.

2) Install SBSettings and stop processes like Safari, iPod and Mail as they run in background and slow your phone.
